These are a few of my favorite things…

March 17, 2018

My favorites:

  1. Sloths

Best animal ever. I have absolutely no traits that resemble that of a sloth, painstakingly slow and lazy, which is why I love them so much. Not to mention they are adorable. I have a collection of stuffed ones, and got to meet one at the Nashville Zoo (My dad is a veterinarian and has behind the scene connections). I hope to be able to hold one eventually.

2. My hair
I have been growing out my hair since the beginning of high school. In middle school I often dyed it and styled it with heat, so it was extremely unhealthy and very short (shoulder length). I have not dyed it since 2009 and get it trimmed every 6-8 weeks at Calla Lilly Day Spa in Murfreesboro, TN. I love being able to walk into a room and have the longest hair out of anyone, and getting compliments on its length makes my day every time. Its naturally curly, so to see it straight is a rare occurrence.

3. Architecture
I have always been interested in interior design and architecture, in fact I once thought of it as a career. Growing up, I attended countless Parade of Homes with my family (newly built and staged houses for sale) and took copious notes, pouring over the brochures and floor plans for weeks afterward. I often visit a site called “eplans.com” to look at the blueprints of the thousands of houses available. Brandon and I often take walks in the Green Hills neighborhood surrounding Lipscomb, looking at the new construction and beautifully restored mansions on the streets nearby as well.
4. Hand Towels
Ever since college began, I have started collecting decor and beautiful pieces for the future house/apartment I knew I would have after my succession of dorms throughout my 4 years of college. One of my favorite things to collect is hand towels. I feel like a grandmother, but every time I see a cute one I have to buy it. I’m not sure how I will display them all in our tiny kitchen, but I will find a way!!
5. Crafting
I first discovered my artistic, crafty side when preparing to take my first little in my social club (Greek sorority) during my Sophomore year. I painted dozens of canvases, and perused Pinterest like it was my job. Now I take on DIY Christmas crafts, home decor, even restoring furniture!

6. Cooking
Summer 2017 was the summer of meal prep and creating delicious meals for Brandon and myself. We learned a lot about cooking, and I became more adventurous in what I was willing to try. Over Christmas break in 2016, I made my first 7 course meal, and followed it with another near Christmas in 2017. With my new diet, I am learning even more tricks and healthy alternative meals.
7. Travel
I have been to all 50 United States, as well as Mexico several times, St. Martin, Africa (Tanzania, Rwanda), Israel, Turkey, Italy, Germany, England, Peru, Spain, Switzerland several times, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland. I adore traveling and have discovered that traveling with Brandon is my favorite. We are so in sync with the things we want to do and see and can make decisions flawlessly.
