Omni Grove Park Inn at Christmas

12/9/2019

We made the trip up to Asheville, NC on Monday to do some pre-convention planning at the Omni Grove Park Inn. We had meetings with event staff and got to see all the convention center meeting space, as well as downtown Asheville where we plan to have several events throughout the weekend in June.

The resort was decked out for Christmas with lights, trees, and the annual National Gingerbread Competition. I was thrilled to see all the celebrations, and luckily snapped some photos of the best parts.

The resort itself was beautiful, built into the side of a mountain with a gorgeous stone facade.

Inside, there were Christmas trees galore, all sparkling with their own colors and themed ornaments.

Inside the lobby, there was a giant gingerbread house serving hot chocolate all day long! It was so delicious that we had it twice in less than 24 hours!

And then, the Gingerbread contest. This contest is SO impressive, with the entire structure having to be edible, and 75% made of gingerbread. People of all ages can participate, and there are even special categories for children and teens.

It was such a fun start to Christmas break, and I can’t wait to be back in June for the GPhA Convention!
