Day 2 was filled with both fun in the sun and tons of amazing networking opportunities and informative sessions. We woke up bright and early to coordinate the professional headshots, sponsored by Walgreens. We had a professional photographer and makeup artists from Walgreens in order to capture the best photos for students. We provided nearly 40 headshots in just about 2 hours.
Next, we heard from four pharmacists from various practice settings on a Q&A panel in Student Central. Ira Katz represented independent pharmacy as owner of Little Five Points Pharmacy in Atlanta, Michael Azzolin represented hospital pharmacy with his company PharmD on Demand, Danielle Lassic represented employed pharmacists as a current Walgreens pharmacist, and Stephanie Kirkland represented Elder-Care Pharmacy, a long term care pharmacy. We heard about each of their experiences in their career and had a lively discussion among the students in attendance.
We had 2 student poster presentations this year as well! They presented their posters and were judged and given feedback on them. Great job to them both!
We then spent a few hours on the beach soaking up the beautiful weather.
We popped into the expo hall again before our student sponsor reception out on the terrace of the convention center. Students were able to mingle with and thank the pharmacists who donated to the scholarship fund to help students afford to attend this convention.
We then headed to the PharmPAC reception to hear from Georgia State Representatives David Knight and Ron Stephens, both huge supporters of the pharmacy profession and our interests legislatively. We honored them and many others for their work and generosity to make possible the strides for pharmacy that were accomplished this year with the passage of HB233 and HB323.
We finished the night with dinner at Brett’s Waterway Cafe just a short drive away from the Omni Resort. I am looking forward to another great day tomorrow!
