3/23/19
The 2nd day of the APhA Annual Meeting is coming to a close and it has been another whirlwind.

I started with the opening session, where we heard from and were inspired by leaders within APhA. I followed that with a meeting with the chair of the APhA-APPM Compounding SIG. A SIG is a special interest group within the academy of pharmacy practice and management, with topics ranging across many practice areas. Students are allowed to join SIGs that interest them, and I chose to join the compounding SIG after attending the PCCA Introductory Bootcamp in December and had my love for compounding ignited. I will be attending the Compounding SIG breakfast meeting tomorrow and spoke with the current chair about the best way to get involved.

The next couple hours were filled with time spent in the exposition. As the midyear regional meeting coordinator, I am responsible for putting together my own exposition this Fall in Atlanta. I made many connections with exhibitors who might be interested in representing their companies again in Atlanta.

The first session of the House of Delegates followed. My best friend Alex is the delegate representing Mercer, and after hearing the reports from the various standing committees, we voted on the 5 resolutions covering various topics in current pharmacy practice. 4/5 passed in record time, with nearly no discussion.

We then attended the GPhA Reception and were able to network with the CEO, President-elect, and many other Georgia students and pharmacists alike. Finally, we closed the night with a Mercer group photo and attendance at the Awards Ceremony. What an inspiration to see the wonderful things so many chapters across the country have accomplished.
