Walgreens Red Nose Day Event

6/25/19

I have been a Walgreens employee for 4 and a half years now, and I love when the job gives me out of the box ways to serve the communities I work in. Today, while shadowing one of the area leaders for Walgreens specialty locations, I had the opportunity to participate in a community outreach event for Red Nose Day!

Red Nose Day is a campaign to end child poverty in a variety of ways, and each year Walgreens raises money and leads outreach efforts across the nation to support it. Today, a group of pharmacists and student pharmacists from Mercer, PCOM, and UGA headed to a church in downtown Atlanta that hosts elementary school children for a day camp each weekday during the Summer. We spoke with the kids about what being a pharmacist means, and how Red Nose Day is helping kids have the opportunity to live happier, healthier lives.

We set up stations for face painting, arts and crafts, and slime making (a real crowd pleaser) and played with the kids for a couple hours before serving them a yummy ice cream dessert and handing out free toys!

What a fun day teaching our community about the excellent resource pharmacists are in their own neighborhoods, and promoting such a worthy cause!
