I stopped back in my hometown for the Tennessee Pharmacists Association Winter Meeting this weekend. I attended the Summer Meeting back in June and I am so glad to continue my involvement in the pharmacists association in my home state!
Saturday’s meeting was all about TSSP, which is the Tennessee Society of Students Pharmacists section of TPA. Students from all 6 pharmacy schools in Tennessee (plus me, from Mercer!) all came together for a day of networking, experienced speakers, and fun. We heard from Julianna Bolton who served as President of the Society over the past year, and from several pharmacists practicing in various areas of pharmacy.
We also worked as a team at each table to play some fun games throughout the day. Shoutout to the “VancoBISONS,” and to all the Lipscomb students who adopted me for the day!
Lunch came with a super fun murder mystery game with actors and clues! A very innovative way to allow student pharmacists to go beyond our typical networking.
After lunch we heard from several more knowledgeable pharmacists practicing in different specialties, and got a legislative update from the executive fellow of TPA, Alec Sain. We also transitioned leadership from the 2019-2020 to 2020-2021 team!
It was a great meeting and I’m so happy I got to catch up with so many of my TN friends.
Day 2 was the TSHP meeting, where I presented my research poster! I spent the first part of the day meeting and hanging out with Allie Jo Shipman and Micah Cost, two of my favorite pharmacists!
After presenting my research poster I headed to the airport to catch my flight back to Atlanta!
I am so glad to have been able to attend my second TPA event, and look forward to continuing my involvement in the association throughout my future!
